RITE OF CHRISTIAN INITIATION

FOR ADULTS

Are you a baptized Catholic who desires to receive the Sacraments of Confirmation, Eucharist, or both?

Are you an inquirer who would like to learn about the Catholic Faith?

Have you received your Sacraments but would like to know more about your Catholic Faith?

Would you like to inquire and explore the possibility of becoming a baptized Catholic? Would you like to complete the initiation rites, i.e. receive Baptism, First Communion and/or Confirmation? Would you just like to understand why we Catholics do what we do? If you answered "Yes" to any of the questions, Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults, RCIA for short, classes are for you. Please contact Deacon Efrain through the Parish Office at 455-3012.

If you answer "Yes!" to any of the above, we welcome you to visit or join our RCIA Classes: Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults. The new session of RCIA will begin early September. We start off at sharing in the 8:30 AM Mass and classes continue in the Parish Center. If you are interested in registering, please call the parish office at 455-3012 and we will be happy to assist you.

The first session for the next RCIA classes will be held on Sunday, September 13, 2009, at 8:30 AM in the Parish Center. All adults interested in receiving initiation rites of Baptism, First Communion and/or Confirmation are encouraged to attend. Anyone interested in understanding why we Catholics do what we do are also welcomed.

News from RCIA

As the 2010 RCIA class is nearing commencement on June 6th, we's like to remind you that the 2010-2011 class will be starting in August. Please contact Deacon Efrain at (808) 455-3012 to sign up or for more information. We look forward to seeing familiar and new faces! If you're still contemplating, we'll share some inspirational experiences from some of our newly confirmed OLGC family.

I  guess I am what you would call a "cradle Catholic". I grew up attending church with my family, almost regularly. As time went by, my church attendance became sporadic as there was always an excuse not to attend. When I did attend, my mind wandered constantly and it seemed as though I wasn't even there

Almost nine months ago, my life took a dramatic turn and I decided it was time to open my heart and to allow god back into my life. Although I was baptized and received my First Holy Communion, I never did complete my Sacrament of Confirmation; something that I have longed to do. Immediately, I signed up for the RCIA program here at OLGC and have never regretted my decision.

Each Sunday morning, we learned about Jesus, his church, praying, how to read the bible, the blessed sacraments and so many other things. The weekly speakers were so full of knowledge, that I was in awe of them and could only hope that one day I knew even a fraction of what they did.

The OLGC RCIA program has not only established a bond with new found family, but has given a foundation for my life journey with Christ. Without the guidance from the catechists, I would still be a lost soul with nothing to look forward to.

May God Bless each of you Always!
